First half of opening weekend......

When soccer season ended last fall the kids never truly stopped training. Kaitlynn and Jackson tried out for the Olympic Developmental Program for soccer. After the third round Kaitlynn was cut. Jackson on the other hand is still part of the program. He has his next training session in a week. Friday began opening weekend of the Spring soccer season and so far things a moving in a positive direction.

Friday night was a bitter sweet victory. Kaitlynn is a starter for her middle school team. Her opponent for the home opener included players she used to be on the same team with, During the first half one of Kaitlynn's teammates slide tackled her former teammate and she was badly injured. Kaitlynn's friend will be ok but she is off the pitch for a few weeks. We were excited for the 3-0 win but more worried for her friend.

It was very clear she was pretty nervous.

It was clear she found her feet and settled into the game in stadium.
A huge shout out to our soccer families who helped us out this weekend. Every six weeks Phil has to work the weekend. Working twelve days straight and thirds is a little much for Phil so I am a single mom for a few days. I could not get everyone where they needed to be this morning because Phil was still at work.  Thank You!!

Jackson was up first this morning. His team did not fair too well and lost but he did manage to score. I felt bad because he is battling a head cold and was not 100%. he has spent the rest of the day just recovering. He will play again tomorrow afternoon. Hoping for a better result Sunday.

He really gave a great effort today.

He managed to get around all of those players.

And Score!!
My favorite part about watching Jackson play is listening to the opposing team's coach yelling at his team, "Watch out for #8! Get on #8!" Yes that is Jackson. I can't wait until he is 100% to really see what he can bring to the team.

Due to a scheduling conflict and a coach decision Kaitlynn left the team she was on in the Fall and rejoined a former team because it fit her school team and schedule better. Her season opener for that team was this afternoon and man was it a good one. I was stunned to see Kaitlynn on the field when I walked up because she was wearing the captain arm band. I did not know that decision had been made. She showed stellar leadership today by scoring all four of her teams goals in the 4-0 win. It was amazing.

She has been working on her throw ins.

She had great ball control today!

Goal 4 of 4!!
Jackson still has a game tomorrow and Kaitlynn has another home game Monday night. If you are not in my soccer circle I will see you some time in late May early June. I will post as often as I can about the season as we go/

TTFN~
