Katie, Mommy and the Potty

We have been talking to Katie about being a big girl and going to big girl school. We have been showing her, her new school for the fall. She came to us and told us she wanted to wear panties to bed. She wanted to be a big girl. Seeing as I never sleep anymore I figured I would wake her in the middle of the night to help her learn to get up in the middle of the night to use the potty. Little did I know the events that would occur.

I wake in the middle of the night because I her Lady whimpering. I quickly think of Katie and quietly hurry myself to her room to take her to the potty. I whip back her covers only to see her wide-eyed as if I had two heads. I said come on lets go potty. I get.... NO Mommy I already went. I asked her when. She said she just went. So let's replay this in her 5 year old mind.

She wakes to go potty. Follows the trail of night lights I set out, goes potty and goes back to bed. I wake to Lady whimpering because Katie got out of bed. I probably scared Katie to death. She thought everyone was asleep and here I come. I felt so bad for scaring her but the more I remember the big wide eyes in the middle of the night the more I laugh.

Then we have the worst night. We had a strange day and Katie had something to drink later than normal. I was worried and did not want to see her fail so I wake her out of a dead sleep and carry her to the bathroom. I stand her up and she sits on the potty. I am helping her because she is still half asleep I thought she would either fall in or off while trying to go. She looks up and me with one eye open, Mommy I really do not have to go can I go back to bed?

Feeling like dirt I get her off the potty grab her hand and start to lead her back to bed. Katie was still half asleep and I guided her right into the wall. If she wasn't awake she was now. Yes I checked her head in the morning for a bruise and NO she did not have one. I supposed what I should learn from all of this is the following Katie came to me about the overnight potty. She will have accidents I should let her do it her way. She will probably live longer. TTFN

Busy Day...12 lbs and counting

Today has been exhausting. Peanut and I got up about 7:45, she ate second breakfast, did her breathing treatment and we got ready for the physical therapist. In the middle of the therapy session the nutritionist arrived. The therapy session went well and Maddie is making HUGE leaps in her development. I have some new goals for her, but she will get there. I was a little discouraged because Maddie only weighed 11lbs 12 oz on the nutritionist scale. That is what she weighed last week. The nutritionist talked about ways to add to her calorie intake because she is still behind. Over all the nutritionist was pleased with the advances Peanut had made.

After everyone left the house we went to the 6 month check up for Maddie at the pediatrician's office. She weighed 12lbs and 2 oz. I think the nutritionist's scale is off and she will be my next email. Maddie was also 26 inches long. She is above the 50th percentile for her height and she is only in the 5th percentile for her weight. We discussed lots of things and the doctor was pleased that although her weight is not gaining as fast as WE ALL would like she is doing very well.

Things these days seem very depressing as to what we all are going through but today was a major victory and we are going to celebrate!!! Hope everyone is having a great week!! Don't for get to celebrate your own little victories!!! We're going to!! TTFN

Where have we been

Well we have been everywhere and nowhere. I took just a few of the photos I have taken and put them together. We spent an afternoon out back trying to clean up the yard and we just made a bigger mess with the leaves. Even Maddie was able to go out in her swing and enjoy the weather.

Katie and Jack had a multi-cutural program they put on at school. I decided to go to it. I am so glad I did not miss it. However Jack would not perform. As soon as he saw me he just cried and told me to take him home. I felt really bad. Katie's class on the other had recited the Irish Blessing and she knew all the words. You could hear her over everyone.

Maddie was up to 11lbs 12oz at her last weight check. We have lots going on the next seven days with all of her appointments. As we complete them I will update you. Hope everyone is having a great week. TTFN
